The Fist

A symbol of solidarity and support worldwide. Used as a salute  to express unity, strength, defiance or resistance.

The salute dates back to ancient Assyria as a symbol of  resistance in the face of violence.

Tristan & Isolde met by chance and fell deeply in love. Their love was never to be. Isolde's father gave her away in marriage to King Mark, Tristan's uncle and dear friend. Unable to resist their love for one another, they carried on a love affair behind King Marks back. King Mark was someone that Tristan loved dearly, Isolde respected him and cared for him as well, therefore what they did was hurting them both. Their love remained forbidden. Tristan's life ended too soon in bravery under tragic circumstances. Isolde was devastated and she passed away shortly thereafter. King Mark had his wife's and nephew's bodies returned to Cornwall, where they were buried.

According to legend it states that two trees, Hazel and Honeysuckle grew out of their graves and intertwined their branches so that they could not be parted by any means. It was said that King Mark out of jealousy had the branches cut and burned down at three separate times, each time the branches grew back the next day once again intertwined. Mark finally gave up. Tristan and Isolde's love was so strong not even death could keep them apart.

Our Tristan & Isolde design shows the pattern of the intertwined branches on rings, bracelets, locks and several other components throughout our collections.
